- To Accelerate Marine and Blue Economy Development
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, Mrs. Fatima Sugra Tabi’a Mahmood, has reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to leveraging strategic partnerships and innovative financing options to accelerate infrastructure development and unlock the vast economic potential of Nigeria’s marine and blue economy.
She stated this on Thursday, 6th August 2026, while receiving a delegation from Coronation Group on a courtesy visit to the Ministry in Abuja.
A report dated 6th August 2026, signed by : Anastasia Ogbonna Director, Press & PR, Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy (FMMBE) made available to our correspondent, stated that the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, Mrs. Fatima Sugra Tabi’a Mahmood, noted that the successful implementation of the Ministry’s programmes and projects requires sustained investment and long-term financing, adding that collaboration with credible financial institutions remains critical to mobilising the capital needed to develop key sectors of the marine and blue economy.
The Permanent Secretary assured the delegation that the Ministry would carefully evaluate the range of financial products and services presented to determine areas of alignment with its strategic priorities, policy objectives and operational needs.
She further directed the relevant department of the Ministry to undertake a comprehensive review of the proposals with a view to identifying viable areas of collaboration, including the possibility of syndicated financing for major infrastructure projects.
Furthermore, she noted that investment opportunities for Ministry staff, including investment and share acquisition schemes, would be examined in accordance with extant regulatory and institutional guidelines.
Mahmood, commended Coronation Group for its longstanding relationship with the Ministry and appreciated the organisation’s previous support towards Civil Service capacity development and digital transformation initiatives.
Earlier, the Director of Coronation Group, Mr. David Aluko, presented the Group’s portfolio of financial services, highlighting its capabilities in merchant banking, securities, registrar services, life and general insurance, asset management, financial advisory, wholesale and long-term lending, bond issuance, syndicated financing and fund management.
