President Tinubu Heads to, Europe for ‘End of Year Break’

  • To attend UAE summit commencing January 11

Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Lagos for France, Europe as part of his end-of-year break.

A statement on Sunday by Bayo Onanuga, spokesperson to the president on information and strategy, said that Tinubu will travel from his holiday base in Emirates (UAE) to participate in the 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) Summit, which is scheduled to take place in early January.

Onanuga said Tinubu was invited by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the United Arab Emirates, to attend the summit.

“The weeklong summit is an annual event that mobilises leaders from government, business, and society to chart the next era of sustainable development,” the statement reads.

“With the theme ‘The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go’, ADSW will connect ambition with action across innovation, finance, and people, showcasing how the world can move forward with confidence.”

Onanuga said Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit.

Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week will commence on January 11-15 2026. It is therefore expected that the Nigerian president is likely to spend over two weeks outside the country in his end of year break.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week sets the tone for global ambition, collaboration, and impact, reinforcing the UAE’s role as a bridge between nations and a source of inspiration for the world.

From January 11–15 2026, Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week will mobilize leaders from government, business, and society to chart the next era of sustainable development. With the theme “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go”, ADSW will connect ambition with action across innovation, finance, and people, showcasing how the world can move forward with confidence.
