President Tinubu extends tenure of Comptroller-General of Customs by One year

President Bola Tinubu has extended the tenure of comptroller General of Nigerian Customs and Excise (NCS) Bashir Adeniyi.

A release disclosing the tenure extension dated 31st July, 2025, signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy) said that the president is confident that this extension will further strengthen the Nigeria Customs Service.

The presidency announces that the tenure of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adeniyi, which is due to expire on 31 August 2025, has been extended by one year.

According to the release, the extension, approved by President Bola Tinubu, will enable Mr Adeniyi to consolidate ongoing reforms and complete critical initiatives of this administration, including, the modernisation of the Nigeria Customs Service, implementation of the National Single Window Project; and, and execution of Nigeria’s obligations under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.

It added that “President Tinubu recognises Mr Adeniyi’s steadfast leadership and commitment to service” saying that “the president is confident that this extension will further strengthen the Nigeria Customs Service in achieving its strategic mandate of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security”
