PDP Mourns, as Bayelsa Deputy Governor Ewhrudjakpo Dies in FMC Yenagoa After Collapsing In Office
The Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, reportedly collapsed in his office on Thursday and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa.

The incident occurred at about 1:30pm, prompting an immediate emergency response. Eyewitnesses reported that the deputy governor appeared to be in a serious condition prior to his death, as he was hurried into the hospital’s emergency unit.
Before his death was announced, it was learnt that Senator Ewhrudjakpo was receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of FMC. A source close to the deputy governor, attributed the scare to the deputy governor’s demanding workload.
While the exact cause of the medical emergency has not been officially disclosed, multiple sources suggested it might be linked to a possible cardiac complication.
Security operatives have since taken control of the hospital premises, restricting access as top government officials file in to show solidarity.
Efforts to reach the deputy governor’s media aide, Mr. Doubara Atasi, were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed deep shock over the sudden death of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who reportedly collapsed and died on Thursday.
