Nigeria Economic Challenges not debt burden, but revenue generations —DG NOA

The Director General National Orientation Agency (NOA) Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu has observed that the Challenges facing the country is not debt burden, but revenue generation drives.

Onilu stated this while speaking at a media parliament, a news platform of the Kwara Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalist themed” Can Citizens Still Be Hopeful in a Renewed Hope Era” held in Ilorin last week- end.

He explained that Nigeria’s current situation is necessary and desirable to lay a solid foundation for sustainable development of the country, Stressing that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu is armed to turn around the Nation’s economy for better.

The NOA boss remarked that Nigerians must be patriotic and change their ways to ensure development of the country, pointing out that change is inevitable for a meaningful development.

According to him, “As at the time President Tinubu takes charge, the country needs total overhauling to make it viable” adding that the Macro –Economic indicators must be put right to enable the micro economic indices take effects.

He noted that there could not be no development without corresponding pains that comes along with it, remarked that the present administration is gradually removing the country out of its challenges of revenue generations.

Onilu said the nation can boast of 63 percent debt servicing ratio with about 37 percent revenue to spend as against what was obtainable in the past emphasised that the stock market has been reinvigorated with the confidence of investors restored to bring business into the country.

He maintained that the revenue base of the country has also been improved through the pro- duction of over 1.5million barrels of crude oil per day to OPEC urged Nigerians to have a sense of conservation and contribute their quota to the growth and development of the country.

Earlier, the Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) kwara Council, Mallam Ahmed Abdullateef said the media parliament was put in place to educate members of the public on programmes and policies of government.

He said the citizens would be able to have the opportunity to ask questions and contribute to issues that affect them, as he appealed to the government to have policies and programmes that have direct impact on the citizens.
