Kwara Reiterates Commitment to Sustainable Socio-Economic Development

Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening socio-economic development by enhancing access to electricity in rural and urban communities through the provision of power infrastructure for citizens.
This was made known by the State Commissioner for Energy, Engr. AbdulAzeez Kola AbdulGaniy, during the first quarter 2025 Inter-Ministerial Press briefing in Ilorin.
AbdulGaniy, highlighted the Q1 2025 achievements of the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, explained that the procurement and installation of a transformer and its accessories at the state Fire Service Station is aimed at ensuring reliable access to electricity at the station, which would in turn improve the operational effectiveness of the emergency response services in the State and its environs.
He added that the repair of two 2.5MVA, 33/11KV transformers in Igbaja town is a vital intervention to restore power to the community and surrounding areas such as Okeyapo, Yaru, Mosudo, BalogunOja, Ilupeju, Atiran, Kajola, Ibare, and Onijo, among others. He said this intervention would boost local economies by enabling artisans, traders, farmers, and small businesses to operate efficiently.
“This achievement is a testament to the proactive and people – focused leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, whose administration continues to prioritize infrastructure that empowers communities and promotes inclusive development,” he noted
The Commissioner stressed that the State government remains committed to delivering projects that would sustain and improve access to electricity and drive the State economic, pointing out that electricity remains a major element of production.
While stressing the important of boosting the state economy for sustain- able growth, the commissioner explained that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq placed high premium on providing the necessary infrastructure to enhance the economic impact of the state
