The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) on Tuesday announced the suspension of its nationwide industrial action, which began on June 2, 2025.

This decision follows a series of meetings and extensive negotiations with key stakeholders, including the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment.

The union disclosed the resolution in a communiqué issued on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, following deliberations on the pressing issues that prompted the strike.

The central grievance was the Federal Government’s delay in re- leasing judicial funds and fulfilling agreed wage adjustments.

The communique said an agreement was reached: “That the JUSUN oblige the noble intervention of the Honourable, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Kudirat Motunmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, GCON, the Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment Alhaji Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, NLC and other Stakeholders.

“To give the Honourable Chief Justice of Nigeria and the relevant stakeholders to engage the Federal Government of Nigeria to ensure the release of funds to the Judiciary within the period of one month.

“That, upon the release of the funds to the Judiciary, the demands by the JUSUN; implementation of the N70,000.00 new minimum wage and its arrears, 25/35% salary increase and five months wage award and their arrears to be implemented immediately.”

“Consequent upon the commitment of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, JUSUN and its organs after due consideration agreed to suspend the ongoing industrial strike action,” the communique noted.

The union directed all judicial staff across the nation to return to their duty posts starting Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
