Infrastructure, Human Capital, Green Assets’ Key to Driving Africa Development…Elumelu
African leaders, entrepreneurs have been called upon to embrace the reality of ensuring that responsibility of developing the continent lies on their shoulders, adding that the notion of waiting for foreigners to develop Africa should be jettisoned.
The call was made on Thursday by the Group Chair, Heirs Holdings, UBA, Transcorp, Founder, The Tony Elumelu Foundation, Mr Tony Elumelu, on Friday at the African Caucus Meeting of World Bank and IMF in Bangui, Central African Republic.
“Africa’s development is our responsibility. No one else will do it for us. Africa’s future is in our hands. No one will build this continent for us. We must lead” he stressed.
Elumelu in his keynote address titled, “Resilient Infrastructure, Human Capital, and Green Assets” He advocated various measures in crystallizing Africa Development.
These measures include innovative financing, especially by inviting and enabling the private sector to co-lead infrastructure development as well as deploying the youth, which he described as Africa’s greatest assets.
“If empowered, our youth can transform Africa. If neglected, they can become a source of instability” Elumelu said.
Other catalysts that will drive growth, he pointed include, collaboration amongst African leaders, private sector frontal role, power, focused leadership, and infrastructure which he said remain the driving factors of the much-needed growth and development which Africa urgently needs.
