Equity Investors Reprice Stocks Higher as market value gains N15.28bn

The NGX Equities market closed higher on Wednesday, sustaining growth posted on Tuesday, with N15.29 billion enhancement, as demand for priced stocks pitched against supply.

The NGX equity market capitalization that opened for the day’s trading session at N36,988,827,143,348.20 trillion, closed the day higher at N37,004,116,772,404.06 trillion, having garnered N15.29 billion value.

As a result, the market ended on a positive note as the All Share-Index (ASI) inched higher by 0.04 per cent to close at 67,353.23 points.

As a result, market capitalization advanced by 0.04% to N37 trillion, largely influenced by the renewed bullish sentiment from which equities investors saw approximately N15.29 billion in gains at the close of Wednesday’s session.

The major contributors to today’s gain include GUINEAINS with 9.09 per cent, ETERNA by 6.86 per cent, UNITYBANK added 5.49 per cent, JAIZBANK 5.26 per cent, and OMATEK’s 4.55 per cent share price appreciations, as the session closed with 19 gainers over 18 decliners.

Furthermore, sectoral performance was largely bullish as three out of five sectors gained. The Banking, Insurance and Oil/Gas indexes led the gainers, advancing by 0.74 per cent, 0.27 per cent, 0.22%.

While the Industrial goods sector declined by 0.06%, the Consumer Goods sector remained flat. Elsewhere, market activity mellowed, with total deals, and value plunging by 8.38% and 9.10% to 6,165 trades, valued at N4.69 billion.

Meanwhile, the traded volume for the day surged by 5.18% to 397.56 million units. In terms of volume, WEMABANK emerged as the most actively traded stock, with 88.99 million shares worth N418.15 billion changing hands in 65 deals.

Wednesday’s top 5 gainers

GUINEAINS led the day’s top gainers group with N0.02 or 9.09 per cent growth in share price, ending trade at N0.24 per share, followed by ETERNA withN0.95 or 6.86 per cent gain, closing at N14.80 per share, while UNITYBNK appreciated by N0.05 or 5.49 per cent to close higher at N0.96 per share.

JAIZBANK appreciated by N0.08 or 5.26 per cent to N1.60 per share, while OMATEK closed the top five gainers group at N0.46 per share, having grown by N0.02 or 4.55 per cent.

Worst losers

CWG led the loser’s group with N0.95 or 10.00 per cent dip in share price to end the day at N8.55 per share, RTBRISCOE followed with N0.05 or 8.77 percent loss, to end the day at N0.52 per share, while AFRIPRUD dipped by N0.50 or 7.14 per cent to N6.50 per share.

FTNCOCOA declined by N0.11 or 6.29 per cent to end the day at N1.64 per share, while NEIMETH declined by 0.10 or 6.06 per cent to close at N1.55 per share.

Top trades

WEMABANK emerged as the highest traded stock measured by volume with turnover of 88,986,163.00 million shares worth N418,147,139.94 million, followed by ACCESSCORP with turnover of 35,606,561.00 million shares worth N598,485,385.30 million, while UBA closed third with turnover of 35,171,437.00 million shares valued N659,134,051.15 million.

FIDELITYBK polled 33,405,831.00 million shares worth N279, 512,821.30 million while GTCO closed the top five most active stocks group with turnover of 23,421,263.00 million shares worth N828, 481,294.25 million
