Dangcem, WAPCO, Firstholdco Gains Drive up NGX ASI by 0.4%

The NGX Equities market opened the week’s trading session on Monday on a bullish note, as buying interests in DANGCEM with 2.4 per cent growth, WAPCO also with 2.3 per cent rise, and FIRSTHOLDCO which appreciated by 2.4 per cent drove the All-Share Index higher by 0.4% to 148,355.04 points. Consequently, the Month-to-Date and Year-to-Date returns settled higher at +4.0% and +44.1%, respectively.
The total volume traded advanced by 11.1 per cent to 432.4 million units, valued at NGN16.91 billion and exchanged in 23,665 deals.
ACCESSCORP was the most traded stock by volume at 40.34 million units, while GTCO was the most traded stock by value at NGN2.58 billion.
Sectoral performance was broadly positive as the Industrial Goods appreciated by 1.4 per cent, Consumer Goods index by 0.2 per cent growth, Banking index with 0.2 per cent, and Oil & Gas soaring by 0.2 per cent, while the Insurance index dipped by 1.4 per cent.
As measured by market breadth, market sentiment was positive (1.2x), as 29 tickers gained relative to 25 losers. NSLTECH (+7.1%) and STERLING (+6.5%) led the gainers, while SUNUASSUR (-9.7%) and HMCALL (-7.5%) led the laggards.
Top five gainers
UNIONDICON opened the week as the highest gainer stock with N0.80 or 10.00 per cent growth, closing at N8.80, followed by EUNISELL with N4.80 or 9.92 per cent rise in price, to close at N53.20 per share, while SOVRENINS appreciated by N0.23 or 6.44 per cent to N3.80 per share. BUACEMENT appreciated by N10.00 or 6.25 per cent, to close at N170.00 per share, while ENAMELWA closed the top five gainers group at N45.00 per share, following appreciation by N2.55 or 6.01 per cent.
Worst five losers
JULI led the losers’ group with N0.89 or 9.94 per cent dip in share price to end the session at N8.06, followed by THOMASWY with N0.29 or 9.63 per cent dip in price to N2.72 per share while LOTUSHAL15 closed third in the group at N77.00 per share, having declined by N8.01 or 9.42 per cent. FGSUK2032S5 contracted by N9.46 or 8.83 per cent to N98.00, while DAARCOMM closed the worst five losers’ group at N1.04 per share, having lost N0.08 or 7.14 per cent.

FIDELITYBK led the day as the highest traded stock measured by volume with 49,461,354.00 million shares valued at N982,647,037.35 million, followed by ACCESSCORP with 42,408,275.00 million shares worth N1,084,028,652.90 billion while CHAMS closed third in the group with 20,225,441.00 million turnovers of shares valued N81,090,116.44 million.
