A review of data published by the Organization of Petroleum Ex- porting Countries (OPEC), has shown that Nigeria’s daily crude oil production fell to 1.485 million barrels daily in December 2024.
This is based on direct data communication of crude oil production. The direct communication is based on how OPEC members reported their crude oil production data.
The figure stood at 1.486 million daily as of November 2024.
According to OPEC data, Nigeria’s oil production reached approximately 1.485 million barrels per day in December 2024, making it the second-highest daily production level since 2023, surpassed only by the 1.486 million barrels per day recorded in November 2024.
According to direct communication, crisis torn Iraq recorded 3.6 million barrels daily as of December 2024.
Nigeria’s crude oil production rose to 1.507 million barrels per day in December 2024, up from 1.477 million barrels per day in November 2024, according to secondary sources data cited in the document.
Nigeria’s oil production surpassed that of Libya, with Nigeria producing 1.507 million barrels per day compared to Libya’s 1.290 million barrels per day, according to secondary sources. In contrast, major oil-producing countries like the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait recorded significantly higher production levels, with 2.9 million barrels per day and 2.4 million barrels per day, respectively.
The data however negates the Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission data which puts the country’s crude oil production at 1.667 million barrels as of December 2024, which is a fall from the 1.690 barrels recorded in November 2024.
The data published by NUPRC shows that the crude oil production minus (blended condensate plus unblended condensate), in the country stood at 1.484 million barrels daily as of December 2024, a fall from the 1.485 million barrels recorded daily in November 2024.
