  • Targets Higher Revenue, Trade Efficiency

The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has charged its officers to sustain revenue growth, strengthen operational discipline and improve trade facilitation as part of efforts to boost efficiency at Nigeria’s busiest seaport.

The directive was issued during an internal performance review where the command assessed its operational performance and mapped out strategies for the remaining months of 2026.

Customs Area Controller, Emmanuel Oshoba, said the command’s achievements in 2025 were largely driven by effective leadership, disciplined personnel and increased deployment of technology.

He urged officers to consolidate on the gains already recorded and sustain the momentum in revenue generation.

According to Oshoba, the command generated N2.93 trillion in revenue in 2025 He said the figure represented a 24.32 per cent increase compared to the N2.36 trillion generated in 2024.

The command attributed the revenue growth to the implementation of the Unified Customs Management System known as B’Odogwu.

The digital platform, according to the command, has improved transparency, accountability and efficiency in cargo clearance operations.

Oshoba also highlighted trade facilitation initiatives such as the rollout of the Authorised Economic Operator Programme.

He said the expansion of the One-Stop Shop initiative was also helping to fast-track cargo pro- cessing for compliant traders.

The Customs boss disclosed that plans were underway to deploy the FS6000 cargo scanning system to improve cargo inspection capacity.
