Petrol Imported, now N77 Cheaper than Dangote refinery supply — Marketers claim

Imported petrol is N77 cheaper than Dangote Refinery’s petrol, according to the latest figures from the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria.

MEMAN data on Friday showed that the landing cost of petrol stood at an average of N721.80 per litre.

On the flip side, the Dangote Refinery petrol gantry price stood at N799 per litre.

This shows a N77.2 per litre price gap between imported petrol and Dangote Refinery.

Meanwhile, last week, the 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery said that marketers would save at least N77.2 per litre if they patronized its gantry price petrol over coast delivery.

“Reliance on coastal delivery, especially within Lagos, introduces avoidable costs with material implications for fuel pricing, consumer welfare, and overall economic well-being.

“Our assessment shows that coastal logistics can add around N75 per litre to the cost of petrol, which, if passed on to consumers, would push the pump price of PMS close to N1,000 per litre,” the statement said.

As of Sunday, petrol sold between N839 to N905 per litre across Abuja filling stations, including MRS, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Ranoil, AA Rano, AP, Mobil, Emedab, Empire Energy and others.
