Pandemonium as Peter Obi escapes alleged assassination attack in Benin

Posted on

Presidential hopeful Peter Obi of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) narrowly escaped an alleged assassination attempt during a party event in Benin City on Tuesday, February 24.

Eyewitnesses reported that hoodlums stormed the venue, opening fire and specifically targeting the vehicle carrying Obi as it fled to Chief John Oyegun’s residence. The attackers pursued relentlessly, leaving the area in pandemonium.

“This unfolded just minutes ago,” one witness recounted. “The situation is still chaotic, with people scram- bling to confirm if Mr. Obi survived or not.”

However, Obi’s media adviser, Valentine Obienyem, quickly allayed fears, confirming to supporters that the former Anambra governor is safe and unharmed.
