Gunmen have killed former Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), David Shikfu Parradang, after abducting him in Abuja.
It was gathered that Parradang was kidnapped in the early hours of Tues day in the Area 1 district of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Sources revealed that he was trailed from a bank, where he had just with- drawn money, before being taken by his assailants.
A security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama said the kidnappers robbed him of the cash before eventually killing him.
David’s murder has further heightened fears over the worsening security situation in Abuja, where cases of kidnappings and violent crimes have been on the rise despite repeated assurances from the authorities.
Parradang, a seasoned immigration officer, served in the NIS for over three decades, holding key positions across several states, including Kano, Lagos, Kwara, Enugu, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He was a graduate of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and had been honoured with the national award of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR).
A source who confirmed the killing to The Nation Newspaper said: “It is sad to hear that our brother David Parradang was shot and killed yesterday. May his gentle soul rest in peace.”
Security agencies have reportedly launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his abduction and killing, with efforts underway to track down those responsible.
Parradang’s murder adds to the growing list of abductions and killings in Nigeria. Just last week, former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Maharazu Tsiga, regained his freedom after spending 22 days in captivity.
It was earlier reported that Tsiga was abducted on February 6, 2025, when gunmen stormed his residence in Tsiga village, Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State.
