Lucky Aiyedatiwa, governor of Ondo, has announced the death of Reuben Fasoranti, leader of Afenifere, the Yoruba sociopolitical group.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Aiyedatiwa described the late Fasoranti as a respected leader who was committed to the development of Ondo, Yorubaland, and Nigeria.
“With a heavy heart but with total submission to the will of God, I announce the passing of our revered elder statesman, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, who departed this world at the glorious age of 100,” the governor said.
Aiyedatiwa described Fasoranti as “a patriarch, a beacon of wisdom, integrity and selfless service”.
He said the late elder statesman’s counsel, fatherly guidance, and principled stance on justice and good governance would be sorely missed.
